Job Description

At Earth Rated the VP, Sales is responsible for taking our brand, growth, and vision to the next level. Today, we are an international brand present in over 40 countries with more than 40,000 stores globally. In this role you will be responsible for developing and scaling our presence within the pet specialty, grocery, mass, club, c-store/drug store channels. This is a leadership role and requires the ability to lead, manage and develop the sales team alongside all channels of revenue. You will also be responsible for refining and optimizing the existing sales plan. The VP, Sales thrives by working in a fast-paced environment and can implement longterm strategic direction.   • Align the sales objectives with Earth Rated’s business objectives through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Understand, align, and implement brand strategies with customer business strategy to maximize revenue growth and profitability.
  • Build long-term and short-term strategies for financial growth, customer profitability and team accountability.
  • Collaborate with the VP, Marketing to create and execute a robust trade marketing plan.
  • Responsible for monitoring all aspects of trade promotion to ensure maximum ROI and value.
  • Ensure trade plan harmonizes across channels with appropriate price value slopes and channel margin requirements.
  • Ensure the successful sell-in of new product launches while achieving distribution goals and velocity metrics on-shelf.
  • Act as an advocate for innovation commercialization by assisting in the development of category growth to ensure minimal roadblocks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Marketing department on product roadmap, future innovation concepts and go to market strategy.


  • Build, manage, lead, organize, and develop a high performing retail/B2B channel sales team to achieve maximum results.
  • Be an active participant in the Leadership Team.
  • Participate in quarterly Executive meetings, representing the Sales Department.
  • Lead, manage, and build a remote sales team.
  • Ensure the team has the capabilities required to deliver the business strategy, while providing challenging and aspirational career growth for individual team members.

Data centric:

  • Utilize customer sales data, syndicated data (ex: SPINS/IRI), internal sales reports to influence account growth, planning, and category growth vision for Earth Rated.
  • Leverage data to further develop and build sustainable strategic customer relationships.
  • Provide in-sight into merchandising & other selling vehicles to ensure Earth Rated continues to evolve & position ourselves for ongoing success.
  • Champion in-store excellence across the map.
  • Actively utilize and manage the team sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data with our CRM system (Salesforce).

Ideal candidate:

  • 7+ years of CPG sales management experience in managing and growing national accounts, territories, key accounts, broker management in an omnichannel environment.
  • Has a results-oriented mindset and ability to self-motivate.
  • Strong ability and desire to work in fast-paced and growing organization.
  • Ability to remain positive, enthusiastic and solutions oriented.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Well-versed at creating, managing, and optimizing annual trade spend budget.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, as well as employee motivation techniques.
  • Passionate about coaching and developing others to see challenges as opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Great strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment along with scaling CPG (Good to have!)
